In the winter of 1776 Captain Patrick Tremayne and Lieutenant Ethan Hale are charged with breaking the British blockade of the Delaware River in order to intercept a Royal Navy convoy arriving with supplies and troops from the West Indies for the British attack on the new American capital, Philadelphia. The Eagle, a refitted merchant ship, escapes the British blockade of the Delaware River and heads out to the Atlantic to carry out their mission.
