Dispatch From Cadiz

1805

Lt. Nicholas Chenevix R.N allows himself to be captured by the French as part of a plan to lure their fleet out of Cadiz where Nelson is waiting to defeat them. However, Chenevix, once caught, is tried as a spy, then kept aboard Villeneuve's flagship, the Bucentaure, during the Battle of Trafalgar and the subsequent storm when the ship runs aground. In one chapter, after Chenevix is knocked insensible during the battle, there is a long dream sequence which explores what might have happened if Nelson had lost Trafalgar.
