Nelson’s Midshipman

 

 

A fictionalised account of Sir William Hoste's naval career. He was Nelson's favourite pupil. The novel follows him from a midshipman in the 64 gun ship Agamemnon, with Captain Horatio Nelson in command to his own handling of a squadron of four frigates off Lissa in March 1811 where he defeated a French and Venetian fleet of superior force.
