Crete, May 1941. Admiral Sir Andrew Cunningham's signal to his fleet was "Stick it out. Navy must not let Army down...". But the ships, with no air cover of their own, had to run the guantlet of 2,000 German bombers; and keep on running it with only darkness in which to lick their wounds.
