John R McKay won the Aspects of History Unpublished Historical Novel Award for his novel, Hell and High Water, which has subsequently published.
He served in the RAF before pursuing a career in the Fire & Rescue Service and then taking up writing in 2013. He lives just outside Wigan in the North West of England with his family.
