Noel Mostert was born and educated in South Africa. He has served as a parliamentary correspondent, as a foreign correspondent and a New York columnist. His articles, essays and short stories, have appeared in most major publications and he has received several awards for his reportage.
In 1974 his first book, Supership, was unanimously chosen to receive the Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction, before being disqualified on the grounds of his Canadian citizenship. Noel Mostert lives in Morocco and his most recent book, The Line Upon a Wind, focuses on European maritime rivalry.
