Robert John Schneller, Jr (1957- ) was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh in1980. Six years later he got a Master of Arts from East Carolina University. Schneller and also holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Duke University.
He began his career in 1991 and worked for over 20 years as an official historian at the Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington D.C.
