An account of a 1942 Murmansk Convoy which lost half it's ships. The author was a seaman aboard the SS Steel Worker, part of thhe convoy, as it made its way along the Norwegian coast.

Carse previously covered this subject in There Go the Ships: The Story of the American Merchant Marine At War which was published in 1942 under censorship conditions, therefore this work is presumably more comprehensive.

The book contains statements of both Allied survivors of sinkings and German Luftwaffe and U-bootwaffe personnel as well as photographs from U.S. Navy and National Archives.
