Alan Morris Strauss Schom is an Historian, Author and Public Lecturer. He was born in Sterling, Illinois in 1941 and was educated at Beverly Hills High School, University of California and the School of Oriental Studies at Durham University, where he earned a PhD in French Colonial History. He then taught modern French and European history at University of California, Riverside, and Southern Connecticut State University until in 1977 he launched a full-time writing and speaking career.
