Ramage and the Drum Beat

1797: Lieutenant Nicholas Lord Ramage has a loyal cre and his first command; the little cutter HMS Kathleen. He also has the spirited Marchesa di Volterra on board and orders from Commodore Horatio Nelson to proceed to Gibraltar with all despatch. But then the Kathleen sights a crippled Spanish frigate ripe for the taking, and Ramage sets out to prove that cutters can do more than carry messages. As Valentine's Day 1797 dawns, the lowly lieutenant finds himself supporting the British Fleet against the Spanish off Cape St. Vincent - in one of the great sea battles of all time!
